turtle with crystal shell - produced for' animated music video
This 3d model of a turtle with crystal shell was made as part of a fantastical animated music video - to the song 'When Shall I be Free?' by Shpongle, on Twisted Records UK. The actual 3d model is very simple and can be seen as a wireframe in the animation section - being simple, it could be animated easily and render more quickly.The texture was the tricky part - all hand painted in photoshop, using some photographic textures as diverse as moss and rusty metal! The model also uses a bump map as well as transparency, specular and more - all hand painted in photoshop.
The amount of work that goes in to producing something like this means it would not be financially viable as an illustration or as a graphic element for web or print, unless you were going to reach a very large audience.
